I was reading about the O2 money card, but I dunno if I can just walk into a three store tomorrow and buy one, instantly transferring funds from my bank account on to the card? Anyone got any idea?

You could try buying a Swirl card. I am not sure if you have to register the card before you use it but there website has an speak to an advisor option. THey should be able to advise.
