    So one can judge when to change gear, also if there a fault and reving too high.

    Also so not to be red lining it all the time like some ould ones do see driving at 50 in 2nd gear:eek:

    Allows you to drive more efficiently than just using engine note/feel to pick the right gear

    handy for clearing the crap out of the exhaust also
    my car failed the nct due to emissions, i was advised to drive the s11t out of it in a low gear
    it worked too
