So the ecs light is on in my a4. Came on after starting the car after getting petrol. It's not flashing and the car is driving perfect. I figure maybe dirty petrol or should I take it to the garage? The light has been on for a few days now.

You need to get a scan done to find out what's causing it. A local mechanic should be able to do this much cheaper than a main dealer.

Yeah, did that in the end. Look like its the exhaust regulator valve (or someething like that). Mechanic said drive it for a few more days then bring it back to check which fault is the most recent (one or two others showed up as well apparently)

If you can post up the trouble codes found we could advise ou further. Was it an Exhaust Gas Recirclation system fault?

Yeah that sounds right. The light went off on a drive to Wexford and stayed off for a few days. Came back on again this morning.
Would the mechanic give me the codes?
