Hi, looking to get on the road and have theory test booked for next week, can anyone suggest the best insurance for a 30yr old first time driver? Any idea's on what I should be expecting to pay, I'm looking at a 1.2 to 1.4 starter car, maybe polo / golf / focus

Try out 25plus.ie - they seem very good, but a general rule of thumb is to get quotes everywhere as prices can vary

Are you taking out the policy in your own name?

My own policy with just a learner permit was €1800. That was with Axa.

Similar details to yourself - Car was a Ford Focus 1.6

Price came down significantly once I passed test.

Mine was roughly 1500 on a golf mk4 1.4, sadly it will be quite pricey and funny enough I could have got a 200 bhp gti for the same insurance cost.

Hope I pass the next time and should a great saving.

I'm 32 and got mine with aib. it's underwritten by axa But was cheaper than with AXA. 1400 on a yaris 1.0. That's as a first timer. What I found useful was that you can pay in monthly instalments at zero interest!
