Trying to source non load bearing feature trusses

    Hi there,
I was wondering if anybody had any tips for sourcing, or constructing a feature truss in a vaulted ceiling? These won't be load bearing, purely for aesthetic value.

I toyed with the idea of doing them myself, anybody have any recommendations for wood type or other tips? We're hoping to have them stained a pretty dark colour so the wood colour itself wouldn't be critical. I've also been trying to source some wrought iron brackets that you sometimes see holding these together at the joints but haven't come across anyone supplying them yet.

Seen them done in white deal, stained, beaten with a heavy hammer, burnt with blow torch. Gave them a distressed look.

A sawmill would be the best place to get the timber you need, they would cut to whatever size you want, if your staining and distressing the wood and it's not load bearing then any soft wood should do
