Does a fault mean you failed?

    Hi,
So I went to take the test about two hours ago, but one of the brake lights of the car was not working so the test was not conducted. I am just wondering does this go towards a fail or a fault?
Also was wondering about how long the waiting times are for cancellation? Can you pick what times would be okay because I can't get another day off work for the test. I rang the RSA but they told me to wait for a few days because the results from my other test are still pending.

    thank you :)

Yes unfortunately it's an automatic fail. Examiners are very touchy when it comes to the cars inspection and will not conduct the test if they notice minor faults.

I heard of one chap who's test wasn't conducted because his car was a little messy. All you can do is reapply and fix the fault.

I imagine the results to your test aren't recorded/processed until the end of the day - they have them all stored on the iPad they use when testing you

Technically it's not a fail, its a "refusal"
