    Hi,

I am thinking of applying for a job in Clondalkin. I live in Balbriggan. I know that they are on completely different sides of the city ( a Galway native only been in Dublin the past year!) but it's gotta be done!

I will be commuting and have just looked at the timetables for trains and the duration of the journey is 2.5 hours!

Does anyone know if there is a more efficient way to commute from these 2 places or is this as good as it gets?

    Thanks for the input
    L

Can a mod move this to the relevant forum?

not too familiar with bus services in balbriggan but if you can make it to the airport theres the airport hopper bus which takes around 30 mins to clondalkin

Driving would be the best option.
I did that commute by car years ago, before barrier free tolling on M50, and managed..should be an easy run these days.
Otherwise as other poster says airport hopper is your best option http://airporthopper.ie/routes-tallaght/
    Best of luck..

Balbriggan can be a tough spot to commute from/ to. I actually had a really similar dilemma last year but it ended up working itself out. 2.5 hours is a LONG commute. I have 1.5 at the moment and it is doable. Used to have a 2 hour commute though, and even at that I just got used to it. I have a couple of apps on my phone that keep me going on the way over.
If it's a big company, maybe someone lives somewhere where they could link in with you on their drive over and you could chip in for petrol.
You may as well apply, can't hurt to put your hat in the ring!

I go Lusk to Tallaght every day. It's quite doable once you start fairly early. The M50 clogs up quickly now though.Tolls are about 100eur a month (give or take), with a tag.

There's a bus service now from Balbriggan aswell - the 191 express? Would that suit you any better?

To be honest, I'd drive that commute if I were you. Public transport is pretty useless if you want to travel to locations around the outskirts of the city - everything is routed into the city centre. I'd have a look around and see if any other private bus services can get you around the outside (for eg, I think there's a bus from Swords to Castleknock), but otherwise, drive, and try and account for the commute cost if you're talking salaries.
