Query re Tax Band

Quick question if someone would be kind enough to advise.!

My January and February payslips this year still had me down on the old standard rate tax band of 32,800 rather than 33,800. This was because my employer hadn’t received my latest tax credits cert, which is understandable. So I requested my cert and it was sent to both me and my employer at the end of February. My March payslip still showed the old tax band, so I queried it with my employer and they said it was a mistake and it will be rectified in my next payslip. So my question is:

Should my next payslip include a return on the excess tax I paid in January, February and March, or just March (as this is the only one that was my employee’s fault, and I’d have to claim January and February back some other way?)

Not sure how it works, thanks!

Assuming you are on the cumulative basis (which most people are) you will a refund of the excess tax paid in your next payment.

Your tax cert will show if you are on the cumulative basis or the Week 1/Month 1 basis
