    Hi Folks,

I've lived out of home in rented accommodation for the past two years and have only now decided to return to college to do a postgraduate course.

I was hoping to be assessed on my own income alone so as to be eligible for the grant but only found out this week when I asked my landlord to provide rent receipts for me to use with SUSI that he is not a registered landlord with the tendency board and thus is refusing to give me any proof of having lived there in case he gets caught for income tax.

Now I don`t know where this leaves me in terms of proving I lived out of home? What documentation exactly does SUSI require in order for me to prove this? I have bank statements with the payments listed going back two years and the address of the house is written as a reference on each payment. Would that be sufficient does anyone know?

Taken from Schedule 5 of the Student Grant Scheme 2013.
Note: Schedule 5 is no longer printed on the Scheme after this version.

Documentary evidence is required of residence from October of the year preceding the first
point of entry or re-entry to an approved course. The following are examples (means they can ask for more) of the type of
    documentation that may be required:
    • utility bills
    • evidence of rental where the rental accommodation has been registered with the Private
    Residential Tenancies Board
documentation received, for example, bank statement or correspondence from a
    government department.

    Point 3: Documentation Received.

AFAIK: All documents must relate to the property.

    Example:
Bank Statement = Mortgage Statement, not a saving account.
Correspondence from a Government Department = LPT Registration from Revenue or Rental Allowance from DSP, not a car tax renewal form or a tax certificate for employment.
