Ssangyong Rodius Wipers not working

OUr rodius wipers have given up the ghost. They were working every now and again, so it seemed like a loose connection. I got the switch/stem unit changed fr a 2nd hand unit, and they worked fine for about 2 weeks, but one morning they were gone again.
The mechanic who I trust) assures me there is no loose connection between the switch and the motor. He recommends we send the switch out to be checked.

Anyone know what the fix is for these?

    Is motor even making sound?

Just got off the phone to the mechanic. He's getting the stem unit checked. The motor is silent. He says this could mean its the motor that's banjaxed, and not the switch.

surely a mechanic would put power to the wiper motor its self?
    has he checked the relay?
checking the switch for continuity with a multi meter should be part of the mechanics checks
