    Hi all,

Looking for advice on the Volvo anti-skid service warning. From looking at other posts it seems like the most likely cause is the ABS module dying. Is there a cheap fix for this rather than a new module (700 euro - 1000 euro). I would like to avoid a main dealer as much as possible. Car is a 2007 c30. 1.6D. In galway but I am in Dublin alot.

    Cheers

It could be something simple and considerably cheaper, such as a wheel-speed sensor or one of the brake assemblies.

    Hi Jimgoose,

Yeah I will get a diagnostic check anyway to make sure but from what I have seen online it is more than likely the ABS module.
I am trying to prepare for worst case wallet emptying scenario.

    my 2 cents.
Yours lasted longer than mine (failed at approx. 4yo) and the other three cars of similar age I heard about at that time.
Talk to the dealer to see what might be possible.
The original goodwill gesture has expired (and it wasn't an official recall as such).
Even so, the dealer might still be able to get Volvo to cover the parts - but you'll cover labour.
Note that Labour includes the software (surprised me!) which adds an ouch factor.
But you should get solved for about half what you were thinking - perhaps e350.

If it is the usual pressure sensor error then you can get it sorted for €350.

I have had the warning a couple of times. There are two makes of BCM. One by Bosch, and one by another company. The Bosch one is normally fine, and the other suffers with contacts getting dirty. I have been fixing my issue by 'jiggling' the cable that goes into the BCM.
Under the bonnet, at the rear right corner (hidden away behind the battery) is the BCM, which is mounted onto the ABS module with the copper pipes coming out of it. If you reach in behind the battery, you will feel the BCM and a cable coming out of the bottom of it. Get a good firm grasp on this, and give it a jiggle, and that will re seat the connections.
That solves the issue with mine, hopefully your too!!
