Onkyo amp - sound lag after picture?

I have a Cambridge 650 bluray player and an Onkyo 608 amp, all connected with HDMI to each other and the TV, which is a Philips plasma.

When some files are played from the USB port on the bluray (tv episode mp4s etc.) there can be an audio delay - the sound arrives anywhere from a second to 2 seconds afterwards. This only happens occasionally.

The a/v sync on the amp only lets you delay the sound further, clearly no use here - is there something else I should be checking/setting that could be causing this? If the file is played on the PC, it's fine, or almost fine (slight lag possible), so it must be one of the bluray, amp, or TV.

There's plenty out there on a/v sync when the sound arrives before the picture, but little or nothing for after that I can find?

I would guess it's a problem with the bluray player not handling those particular files properly. 1-2 seconds of audio delay is massive so I really can't see how it could be happening any other way.
