    Hi Guys!

I'm in transition year at the moment and am after completing the FETAC level 5 Occupational first aid course. I Did really well and I am wondering what is the next level course I can do? I am considering a career as a Paramedic, which i know is a long way off but I just want to progress with first aid training for the time being :)

EFR emergency first responder, usually takes a while to complete than ofa. Are you a memeber of any voluntary first aid group?

    thanks for replying clairek6 :)

I looked it up and it sounds really good, but do they allow teenagers to do it? There really isn't anything in my locality that I know of, but I'll look into it :)

Some courses I believe you have to be 18, EFR comes under that if I remember correctly. The best thing to do would be to look up your local Red Cross, St. John's Ambulance or Order of Malta (listed on all their websites) and see what training they'll offer cadets. It's a great thing to be involved in, I was part of the Irish Red Cross cadets for about 5 years. You meet great people, take part in competitions and learn some very valuable skills that could save a life some day.

If you're considering a career as a paramedic you should look up the new degree entry programs that paramedic training has evolved into within the last year or so. It's offered in UCD and UL.

Thanks for the reply Taco Chips. :)

Yeah I thought that alright. I Don't think the red cross are active in my area but I think St. Johns ambulance maybe. It sounds really interesting, I'll look into it. :) I just had a quick look at the UL degree and I'm just wondering if the course is available to postgraduates?
