    Hi
I am thinking I will buy a 01 Ford Focus 1.4 as my old car just got the big bill from Mr nct. Are the Ford Focus any good? I read reviews but like to hear from some drivers?

Had two 1.6 Ghia Saloons in the house at one point, and still have one. 1.4 is considered underpowered, but fine around the city.

Ghia at that point had air-con, front fogs, drivers
arm-rest and a few nicer bits of trim than the standard, so go for that if you can.

A few small issues which were common to Fords at the time such as water in the pollen filter, some strange behaviour of the door locks which, anf a few other small things, but generally nothing that cost over €50 for a DIY fix.

Easy to work on, great to drive, cheap to buy, there's a reason its one of the most popular cars of the last decade.

1.6 facelift would be a nicer car.

I've had a 1.4 petrol Focus 2001 for nearly 7 years. Little or no trouble apart from new clutch at 80k miles.

Forget the 1.4 it has very little go in it.I have the 1.6 zetec which i believe is the sports version of the Ghia,A/C and ABS etc.Mine is a MK1.So i would go for that or the Ghia version as mentioned earlier.:)

I'm driving a 00 1.4 focus and it's been good to me. Have had a few small problems but nothing major. Running very well for a 15 year old car and hoping it'll go through another test in a couple of weeks.
