There are a lot of quality Connemara studs so its going to come down to suitability for your mare, desired type and purpose and also personal preference.

There is one other thing to keep in mind though, there has been a lot of discussion lately regarding a new test for an inherent genetic disease, HWSS (Hoof Wall separation Syndrome)

It is an autosomal recessive condition which has been isolated in the Connemara, which means that many ponies can carry the disease, and if they are unlucky enough to have two copies, they will suffer from it. Only a relatively small number of horses have been tested to see if they are carriers, and there are some issues still, lack of recognition, the fact that the company carrying out the testing and keeping the records up to date are a private enterprise etc.

It is still worth keeping in mind though, that there is now a test available to prevent against breeding foals carrying a devastating genetic disease, which might give one stallion an edge over another.
