Worried about failing again

Hey guys. Ive been driving since I was 17 (2012) and I got my first car last July. I applied for my test last year, sat it in December and unfortunately failed with 12 grade 2s :( they were mostly for progress at roundabouts, turning left, and an observation fault for my reverse.

I know the usual advice is to book as soon as possible but due to money issues I didn't, i rebooked in February and just today got a date for the end of next month. I'm so nervous about it. I've been out driving loads and my parents say this time they feel a lot more confident about me passing, because last time they told me to cancel it because they didn't feel I would get it and they were right, but I'm so nervous about failing again because I was pretty upset the last time. I know it's not the end of the world if I fail again, but ld love to be able to go off and drive on my own. My parents are great with going out driving with me and I really appreciate it but at this point theyre just in the car because they have to be, they don't give me instructions if you get me.

I've had the 12 EDT lessons of course, which I completed before I got my car, but coming up to the first test I had 2 lessons every week for about a month beforehand which was a lot of money, although I don't regret it because it definitely helped my driving and confidence as a whole. I'm planning on getting a lesson or two or a pretest beforehand but money is a bit tight right now, so, anything I can do for the next month to prepare me this time?

Looks like you are doing everything that I would advise you to do. Personally, I would focus on the pre-tests covering all of the usual test routes in your area with an instructor. Once you know the routes, you could go around them a few times with a licensed driver as extra practice. A pre-test on the morning of your test is not a bad idea. I would have failed as my indicator light had literally just gone on the blink. Spotted during pre-test and sorted.

    Best of luck.

My advice - don't worry so much, it's a driving test and not the end of the world. Just turn up well prepared and do your best. At the end of the day it's someone sat in a car with you. Just concentrate on what you've been taught, checking mirrors and blind spots and you'll be fine. It's so easy to pick up marks for not checking mirrors and the blindspot. Just go over in your head the procedure for changing lanes and making turns.

Also pre-tests are the best thing to do as well - make sure your instructor goes into proper exam mode so you get used to it and feel comfortable. They can take you on proper test routes so you get comfortable with the local area.

    Best of luck!

It sounds like you've had a lot more practice since then and you have your own car and that lends to a lot of comfort on the day.

It's really about practice and practicing correctly.
