Anybody here listen to RTE digital on your TV. I notice RTE have put static image on each radio channel,. Im afraid to leave it on now for fear the image will "Burn In" to the TV. Is "Burn in" still a problem with TV's??

    Plasma - very much so
LCD - not really. Even severe image retention caused by having them on the same channel for months/years is usually gone after a few days of another image, as its not actually phosphor burn like a CRT.

Ahh thanks, ive an LED tv so should be ok. In the link below says it can possibly happen to LCD's too..

Limit your viewing of 4:3 material on widescreen TV with static bars. Use the formatting modes on your TV to reformat 4:3 material to fit the 16:9 screen.

Also, don't watch 1000 2.35:1 ratio DVD or Blu-Ray movies in a row.

Be careful of channels that maintain a static, never moving, logo somewhere on the screen.

Be careful when playing video games that contain a static graphics, like a life meter or HUD. Make sure you vary your gaming or watch other things between gaming sessions.

Be careful of channels with stock tickers and other non-moving images

Be cautious of media features and menus in smart TVs.

I think its a daft move from RTE considering many people probably still have plasma TV's..

I know a guy who watched a lot of TV3... And had Red Rock burned in the top right corner...

Its a pity that RTE's teletext service is not accessable when listening to RTE Radio stations via Saorview, despite the MUX that is tuned in carrying both (it would not be a problem for the hardware of the receiver).

In the days of analogue satellite, and listening to a radio station on it, it was of course possible to access the teletext service of whatever TV channel the radio station was 'piggyback' on.
