Estate Car decision

Need to change the company car for the 152 plate so need to make a decision soon as it takes ages to get an estate into Ireland, especially if I want a nice spec.

Firstly, has to be an estate and it's a company car.

Choices I have come up with are:

    Octavia RS
Passat Highline BE (the 190hp one)
    318d Sports Touring
    A4 2.0 TDI ultra SE

    Any recommendations or other suggestions?

I have an Insignia Tourer and want a change and don't want a Mondeo

    Thanks!!

The Octavia will be a step down compared to what you have and the other options. New A4 out soon if that matters.

The 318d is actually a nice car but in the right spec a 190 Passat should make a very nice hack for a couple of years.

I agree with above. Octavia would be a step down comfort wise but might be more sporting. What about superb?

That's a nice choice to make. The first three are all very tempting and you would be happy with any of them really.
Octavia is a lovely car in that spec. They devide opinion but in the right colour look great.
New Passat with the 190bhp engine would also be very nice too.
I'd have the 318 as I like the touring BMW's
Wouldn't touch the A4. There is a new one this year and they are very dated and understeer like a pig in the wet.

Jaguar XF Sportbrake for a wildcard choice? (It's worth test drive at least)

    Passat out of that lot.

Out of that list, definitely the Passat, and if it's available to you I probably wouldn't be looking at anything else anyway.

Only issue there is that lead times on higher specification Passat's (and Estate's) is quite long at the moment, so unlikely to have a 190 Estate Highline BE ready for early July. I've a 190 DSG Highline on order since 24/11/14 and it's not due to be built for another 6 weeks, so still 2 months at least until delivery!

    @ R.O.R
I am changing this year as you know, 8th August.
I have been told by my local dealer if I order next week it would be in on time.
    It would be a 150 highline B.E + SP.

Is he correct do you think?

saw one of these today....would be my pick of the bunch

Drove a saloon 318d today, nice car but think I would prefer the Mazda to it

I'm not sold yet on the XF Sportbrake...

The Accord estate was discontinued in 2013.

4 months should be more than enough to get one in, but who knows at the moment? Passat I mentioned initially went in to week 9 production, then out to 12, then 15 now at week 19, so they do sometimes fall down the schedule, and that's not the only one, but it is the worst one.

ROR, whats the wait time on the 318d touring?
That saloon we just got took a while, I know there was some delays in the paperwork but would the touring be a longer wait?

The 3 series touring is a nice looking motor aswell

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,360 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

There is a facelifed 3 Series due soon.

Had a look at the new Superb estate there, nice looking.

Is the present one a nice drive?

Also saw a Volvo V60 today, any views on that one?

Stuff ordered now will take about 3 weeks of paper work chasing, then 6 - 8 weeks once ordered. Facelift is due for July but no more details than that and that the 3 series gets the upgraded engines that the 5 Series has had for a while.

Not sure if the leather and nav will still be standard.

The Blue one you drove is a 316! Not sure the 318d is on the list, think it's the 320 efficient dynamics models, but the wheels are horrid on that so I order a normal one and tell the UK it's the efficient dynamics models.
