Depends on the model and your insurer really. An STI or WRX will be a little harder insure for a mature driver with a clean record and nigh on impossible for a 18 yr old.

Some insurers have stopped insuring them altogether, so finding an insurer could be difficult. I know mine refused point blank about a year ago, whereas they insured me on numerous high powered Subarus in the past, they just said they don't quote them anymore. I've heard a lot of insurers are gone that way with High power jap stuff though. An Irish WRX or Sti, if they even exist might be an easier one to get cover on.

What's the definition of a good quote on a car like this if you don't mind me asking?

Was asked about 5 times by 123 if my yoke was Irish car, not modified, not an import.
123 and 25 plus gave reasonable quotes. YMMV...

Agh right, then it's a big standard run of the mill car. Easy insurance.
It's like comparing a civic type R insurance to the 1.8 version, totally opposite.

On another note, in relation to the proper versions, Arran Insurance in Harold's Cross quoted me just over €600 just before Christmas for a 2002 WRX STI Type UK Impreza. I'm 33 with full NCB.
