IS Certification / Starting off in IS

    Hi all,

Another generic certification thread! I'm working as a SysAdmin currently and I really enjoy my job. I've had to move into the IS side of things in the last 12 months, particularly with documentation, procedures, policies etc.

I have no certs as is and I'm looking to get an IS cert this year to start off - CompTIA Security + is what I'm thinking, before hopefully getting something like the ITIL in there aswell around the second half of the year.

The idea would then be to spend next year either getting the CCNA or CISSP based on what's required for work.

I attended a talk/conference yesterday on IS organisational practices and came across ISACA for the first time. I'm wondering if it would be worth joining or should I get a bit of a taste for IS, get the Security + cert and some more experience before joining. Alternatively, should I be looking to join ISACA sooner rather than later and perhaps look into getting a CISA/CISM cert to start off rather than the Sec +

Would appreciate any advice you fine folks may have to offer :)
