So my mother in law has a nissan march 99 and the power assist unit has packed in. (I think that is what it's called, it's to do with the power steering anyway.) And apparently since the car is a japanese model the part is next to impossible to find. I found one but if its the wrong one then Im back to square one. So I guess What I am asking is does anyone know where I might start looking for the part. I have looked on adverts and such already. Thanks.

Would a Nissan dealer not tell you if a March spare is interchangeable with a Micra spare?

Don't see why a micra part wouldn't go on the march, They're the same car really just named differently!

Because the part im looking for is electric in the march and not in the micra.

Yes and it's not that is why I am looking for a march part and not a micra part.

jap imports parts can vary and you might not see it until you try and replace it,like exhausts different length, size of wings 1/2 out,is it a steering pump driven by fanbelt if so?

Horse out the steering system out of the march and put in the system out of a micra.

To be honest I haven't a clue. Not to sound like a complete knob but I came here to find out.

It is, like what Tony Beets said when he was putting his 70 year old gold dredge back together "Its only nuts and bolts".

Do a search/join some Nissan forums/user groups they usually have answers to questions you haven't even thought of yet.

Did exactly that with my Jap import Camry, saved me a fortune

What do you mean? Most scrapyards won't bother listing a March as a March and will just list it as a micra. Automatic Micras aren't that common, but automatic Marchs are.

I'm not surprised youre not able to find this part tbh.

Do you have the Nissan part number and how much ( ballpark figure ) you're prepared to spend?
