Problem with TC7200 (DHCP?)

I have UPC 120mb and I'm using the TC7200 for the past year after I asked them to switch me from the Horizon box.

I've had regular problems with the TC7200 where devices wouldn't connect. I switched the wi-fi signal to 5ghz and enforced an 11n only rule to use with my phone and android box and it has been solid with wifi speeds of 110mb. I then plugged in a Netgear access point through ethernet for all 2.4ghz devices. The Netgear is now locking up and wont allow devices to connect and it wont pass DHCP from the TC7200 to devices. Turning AP and modem at the wall and back on seems to be the only fix.

The netgear AP (WNAP210) had previously been used in an office building of up to 50 people along with 5 other identical devices and they never had an issue relaying DHCP to the many devices that would connect and disconnect throughout the day. It is now showing the same symptoms as the the TC7200 did when that was in charge of the 2.4ghz wifi.

Is this a fault with the DHCP on the TC7200? Is there a firmware update available?

Should I attempt to bridge and get a third party router to handle DHCP?

I have the option of moving to Vodafone fibre but this will be extra hassle, (time off for installation dates, changing the layout of some wiring in my house, etc..), is this my only option to get a more reliable setup?

I'm a big fan of UPC's network and how they put pressure on other providers to keep up with bandwidth but I just cant stand how cheap and unreliable their end-user equipment seems to be. From faulty modems to badly programmed Horizon boxes.

    Any help is appreciated.
