Anyone heard of people being asked to go to a social welfare office (I think Aras Mhic Diarmada beside Busarus) with loads of paperwork to justify their children's allowance. I've heard of people from Blackrock, Churchtown etc. getting letters being given an appointment to go there with long form birth certs for them, for their children, utility bills etc. Appointments take no account of people being at work, and sometimes they're stuck in queues in waiting rooms long after their "appointment". First I heard was today but it seems quite a few people have got these letters.

Nope, never heard of it. However, about a year or so ago, we were sent a letter asking us to confirm the details of our kids that we receive benefit for, all we had to do was sign it & return it to the dept.

NO it's definitely for children's allowance. A few people who work in one place all got asked. No other link between them. I'd never heard of it either, seems no one else here has as well
