    Hi all,

Did the NCT on Saturday and failed on a couple of issues.

Front shocks are fine but the top mountings are worn.

Rear brakes, discs and pads are fine but the back plates are corroded.

Both minor enough issues apparently but my biggest problem is finding the parts. Is there anywhere to get OE part numbers by make/model, most of the online motor factors etc only seem to have full brake kits etc that cost an arm and a leg and not having much luck in breakers yards either.

Are you going to fix the car yourself?

Yes, with help from a friend who knows what he's doing.

First place I tried but I can't find the exact parts, everything to do with this car is a pain in the ass, impossible to get parts. I had to drive halfway across the country to get a window regulator.

If I could the OE numbers for the parts I'd have some chance but can't find them anywhere.

Your probably looking at main dealer for the bits you need, or have you tried them already? I doubt there are too many of them scrapped around.

How bad are the backplates ?
I recently repaired one on a Galaxy, which had quite a bit of it missing , using expanding metal and P40 which I then painted with black paint ( removed caliper and disc for access).
Passed the retest - and they tested it well .
New ones were 54 euro from Ford - but it could be quite a struggle changing them due to corroded bolts etc.

I haven't taken them off and seen them myself, just going by what the NCT inspector told me.

You could be dead right though, a wire brush and a can of paint might go a long way.
