Yoyo Speeds!

Joined Sky from eircom few weeks back, in a rural area and Sky just recently was able to offer it to us.

Thing is the speeds are yoyoing. For instance the line can handle 5MB obviously not gonna get it all. However first few weeks it was going from 2-4MBs then dropped to 0.5MB off peak and at peak it was 1.7MB! They sent out a new hub the other day and it was still slow around 1-1.7MB then yesterday and today it was averaging 4MBs! Now since about 8pm it's down to about 0.4MBs!

I'll be onto them again but does anyone have any ideas as to what is going on here?

Probably a poor sync, if nothing your end changed then its likely a bad hanoff at the exchange.

Read your stats off the hub and post here.

Sorry if I'm wrong are those the stats you mean?

    Does it show SNR values?

With that you should test consistently at 4.4-4.6Mb Down, 0.35 Up.

Make sure nobody else in the house is using the internet at all when testing, otherwise you have no idea how accurate the result is.

If they're still all over the place with just you testing and nothing else its probably BTs network and sweet FA you can do.

No man, cant see it them anyway, is the noise & attenuation yes? I am the only one using when testing it, through a wired connection and still the same up and down.
