I've stood and watch people put down conventional and pick up organic produce. It's a sector in Irish fresh produce industry that isn't been taken advantage off. I know a few at it and some trying to get into it, the hard thing for some is the 2 years you need to leave land befor you can sell produce as organic, which doesn't help with lots of veg lads working on con acre.

There is money to be made.
Begley, simpley fresh has an organic farm in Wexford, he supply's lidl dunnes and some to musgraves.
Leo dunne in Laois grows a lot of organic carrots for dunnes and tesco, increasing his organic acreage this year I believe.
But with Meade potato company importing produce for holland for aldi starting this April it will really bring down the premium price I think anyway.

But looking at the skill Produce World and Taylor Produce (in UK) work and the top quality produce it really shows the potentional of organic fresh produce. Thee stuff is better than a lot of conventionally grown crops.

Don't think you can do just potatoes organically, you'll have to have a rotation with other crops to control disease etc.

    Like anything else - depends-
How much ground you have - (and how good it is ) ?
How much muck you have ( no bag manure)
Who's doing the work / machinery and how much -
And most importantly who you're selling to - no market then don't bother-
