    Hello lads,

Tis a bit late to be asking, as I need to get it now, but anyways... ;)

What dose do lads give to ewes after lambing?

I used cydectin injection last year, but I find the injection fiddly - when I don't inject them all at the same time.

So - what do other lads use?

    Thanks.

We use an injectable here too, we do them when we're vaccinating, but they're in the shed so there's no chance of reinfection before they lamb

That's a good plan... I wish I had thought of that / spoken to you 2 weeks ago ;)

Apologies for hijacking the thread john, rangler when on a meal and straw only diet indoors, how much meal do the ewes get every day ? Final week pre lambing and post lambing. busy here, thinking of swapping over to your system for the few weeks in shed ? Thanks

    Hello green,

That's ok - I asked rangler the same about 2 weeks ago. ;)
On phone now, so can't post exact post, but here is the link

I should add I changed it a bit, as I am feeding a small bit of hay along with the straw.
I feed 0.5kg to doubles morning and evening, plus some soya bean on top to bring up protein.
I'd didn't want to go any higher in a single feed, and as was at work feeding in the middle of the day wasn't an option.

Ewes with multiples require about 200grs/day good quality soya type protein in the last two weeks before lambing, if you go down the straw/concentrate route and your feeding 1.25kg/day of an 18% ration, you're giving them 225grs/day of protein, so be careful adding more protein.
One thing about straw/meal feeding, you won't be short of milk at birth.
Be careful with any changes so near lambing
