I am looking to buy a new gaming desktop the HP ENVY 700-311na. I can get one for €525 so would it be a good purchase? Also looking to change out the graphics card but worried that the motherboard will not be compatible.
How can I find a list for the Intel Z87 motherboard and are many cards compatible with it? Oh and could I build a better gaming rig for cheaper?

That doesn't sound bad at all pricewise! Do you have a link to it? Prebuilts often skimp on motherboard and PSU and don't give specs on them normally in their descriptions.

In this case they give the motherboard type (z87) which is far from the lowest end, but no info on the pau so your graphics card upgrade could be limited.

The case could also be a limitation , depending on the size and whether its atx compliant

Price is mental OP, buy it, sell the R9 270 and add a GTX 960 and you've got an excellent machine for about €580

The PSU is 500W according to here, giving it loads of room for GPU upgrades.

Motherboard is an MSI, So it cant be too bad.

That is a stupidly good price for that setup. I'd buy it straight away if I was you, before they realise the cock up.

So I got the serial number to see the exact specs

    http://www.imldirect.com/pgProduct.cfm?Product=12172_156_2240185-G9B05EA-ABU-HP-ENVY-700-300-700-311na-Desktop-Computer-Intel-Core-i7-4790-GHz-Micro-Tower

Sorry no links for another one at the same price this is a once off. Sounds like I got lucky. Looking to do some 3D animated logos with 3Ds Max so I take it this will be perfect for rendering.

What kind of settings could I have for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive with this rig? By the way thanks for all the help and advice :)

You'd run high or ultra settings easily. If you install a 960 you'll run almost anything on high on a single screen. The R9 270 should fare well though if you don't need 1080P 60fps on Ultra.

Maybe buy the PC and measure the Max GPU length first though

I'd keep the 270 for at least a year or so before upgrading it unless you're going 1440p. It's a good card for 1080p. I'd definitely get an SSD for it though. If the motherboard and PSU are decent like mentioned above then long term it'll be great for upgrades.

I reckon its at least 2/3 off the normal price- for the specs above you'd be looking at around 1500.........

You should throw it up on adverts - shouldn't have any hassle selling it there at that price including a monitor. Where are you based?

Is it exactly the same spec? Or is it just from the same range? Can you put up details? I'd be interested.

Okay so I went into CeX store with it and they'd only offer me 650 store credit or 500 cash I'll take €550 today if anyone wants it mail me ur number asap. It would be a damn shame to let them take it for 550 an resell it for 1100-1200e

Can we take this discussion to Adverts.ie please? No on-thread sales are permitted here - the closest would be a link to the Adverts listing in the thread made specifically for such things.

Locking this thread before anybody says anything I have to act upon.
