I'm looking for a small van around 07 r so, I've been looking at connects, partners, berlingos and the like
I had a caddy before for good few years without any problems as it was well serviced and looked after
Are the French vans reliable? They do look better than the connects but the connects seem to have good reputations for being reliable
Crucial thing is the weight it can carry, it will be carrying 500/600kgs of weight each day so want a van that will still have bit of poke with that weight
    So any suggestions folks welcome
    Cheers

The Caddy is probably the best of the small vans but you will pay good money for them.

Stay away from the connect anyway.

I think the caddy is the best out of the small vans on the road they are generally very reliable and comfortable as vans go. I spent most of my summer in them and transit connects and I much preferred the caddy. 2.0sdi isn't that powerful and would be struggling with 600kg in the back every day so 1.9tdi would be the best option.

    Why would you say that?
They seem to be fairly reliable, parts are cheap and are easy to run by accounts online

I get what you mean with the engines but tbh the caddy is prob to rich for me on my budget trying to get an 07 or 08 van

Any ideas on the like if partners or berlingos?

Another vote here for the Connect. Will be changing to a newer one next year. Current one never gave a bit of trouble.

Easy to run they have to be literally one of the hardest vans on diesel on the road. They are very bad unless the 07/08 improved but 05/06 you can't keep diesel in them the caddy would be a miser on diesel when compared to the connect.

Berlingo partner are ok 1.6hdi isn't exactly the most reliable engine they can't deal with any form of abuse and are sensitive. The 1.9 is seriously dead so that leaves the 2.0hdi which are hard to get but quite powerful and would be the best option.

The injector pump i would not class as reliable in them.

Been to see couple vans, seriously clean 07 berlingo 2l only 56k on it nice driving van, drove a connect and didn't like it felt very underpowered and it's not a great looking van either, going to see a partner tomorrow the caddy bit out my budget tbh the only ones in my budget have serious miles in them

My father had a connect for years (2006 model) Seriously reliable (1.8tddi engine) but go over 80kph and it will drink fuel on you. Suited him down to the ground though as it took abuse like a champ and wanted for nothing but its services. Great van but not a commuting vehicle by any means. Newer tdci engine is more refined and powerful and better on fuel. Be sure to get a higher spec model though as the basic t200 is BASIC!
Caddy is just like a car to drive, very nice machine and easily sold on. 1.9tdi is also a bulletproof engine with better power and very good on fuel (45mpg).

High miles wouldn't bother me on a Caddy if it was well maintained.
