This was on channel 4 tonight. Excellent documentary. Trevor Phillips made some great points. Especially about how many real issues are not talked about our tackled properly because people are scared of being labeled racist.

    Anyone else see it?

the whole premise of political correctness is that reality and truth must not be pointed out

What do you mean? I don't really understand. Sometimes we need to be politically correct, black people cause more crime in america so it would make sense to have more police in communities where more black people live. But obviously thats wrong, and humiliating and offensive.
But other instances of political correctness, such as the mass child trafficking in england are complete bull**** and brought harm to innocent young girls. So theres two sides to it.

    Quote that sticks with me:

"I wonder if at the heart of this, is a mistake that we all made, that we gave people a cultural exemption from normal, decent, reasonable behaviour."

I see this in Ireland with the Travelling community.

It was interesting, when ideology bests decency we are all in trouble.

I'm not disagreeing with the sentiment of the quote but culture goes a long way to dictating what is normal, decent and reasonable behaviour. You could rephrase it by saying. ... an exemption from 'my culture's interpretation of normal decent reasonable behaviour'.

It's too easy to overlook our own flaws. Imagine being a traveller looking at corruption in our political system and wondering why we settled folk consider ourselves so high and mighty

I thought it was a really good documentary. I have a sneaking feeling that Phillips took a bit of pleasure with sticking it to Labour last night as well.
