    hello Folks,

when the van is cold the gear changing is fine. When its hot, the gears have difficulty engaging. This happened after I changed the gear oil to the recommended 75-80 oil. The van is 13 yrs old with 120000 on the clock. Could the previous owner have had a thicker oil in it? Whats my best solution now. Thanks a lot

It could just be the oil needs to be changed in the box

Generally if the oil is the problem you would expect to have the difficulty when cold ; as the oil warms up it thins out a bit and selection would be easier .
Your problem seems to be the opposite of this so probably not caused by the oil .

However you say this problem only appeared after you changed the oil - so this would indicate the oil as the problem .

But there could have been a problem developing which just appeared as you changed the oil - and could lead you to think the oil change caused the problem
    (not explaining this very well:o).

Does the van have a hydraulic clutch ?
How bad is the problem when hot - are gears just stiff or impossible to select ? Does it affect all gears ?
Does the clutch feel any different when the problem is there ?

How much oil did you put into it. Did you just fill it up till it overflowed.
The earlier peugeot/citroen it was necessary to put the recommended amount of oil in the box. Not sure if is the same with that model.
It may well be overfull with oil.

correct quantity of oil went in, 1.9 litres. Its like it does not want to engage the gear. I dont grind it as I am savy enough to allow it time to engage. Clutch seams fine and as always. Affects all gears. I did take out the drive shaft when I changed the oil. It needed an inner cv boot. Perhaps something went on there.

    thanks for all thr replies
