Hi I'm just curious about this. Is there money in building PCs and selling them on?

If you sold privately, no. People expect a discount on no warranty and on a product that is perceived to be second hand.

If you sell commercially, then no. You can sell it but supporting it afterwards becomes a nightmare and will chew through any profits you have made.

    this OP.
that Mr nice guy who bought the thing off you could well make you his number one target to bounce his frustrations off. "I want an engineer onsite with replacement graphics card in the the hour! no....I won't do any troubleshooting with you over the phone....certainly not"

Building no, as I think it's too late for that in this day and age.
There's probably some money to be made in support? Fixing, upgrading etc.

Meh, much of the same to be honest. There are easier ways to make money in IT support.

I was thinking more of a side job from your main income.
I've done similar myself few years ago, but always for people that knew me.
Never actually went out and advertised.
Eventually I stopped, because some people thought I owe them free service because they are friends with my parents etc... Weird situation.
It was great since I learned more about PCs than I used to know, which lead me to now doing my second degree in computer sciense :D
