    Hi all,
out of interest, has there ever been an aer lingus a330 anywhere in Ireland apart from Shannon and Dublin? I read on wikipedia that Aer Lingus use to use their 330 on a route from Belfast-Newark via Shannon. Is this true as I cant find any photos of this. Cork may possibly have seen an EI330? I know the runway is abit short but is it possible/has it happened?

One went to Cork to showcase the current livery back in 1994 or so.

    Summer 1995 season

Didn't they do Boston as well under the VI brand?

And after the MD-11 lease ended I think there were some EIN111/ 112 flights using the standard liveried A330s until Belfast long-haul closed-down.

I`m surprised they haven`t considered reopening long haul from Belfast. It could be as profitable as Shannon possibly especially since the North only have a seasonal EWR service.

With the motorway connection to DUB from Belfast (and south/east Ulster) it isn't required.

It might suit a 757 or 321neo in the future but given the local infrastructure the loads would suffer ex Dublin. Logistically it would also be a nightmare as the pax ex BFS would need to clear immigration on arrival in the US. Facilities would need to be put into place for this which will drive up the price. If the merger with IAG is successful then this might be less of an issue as you would expect AL to shift to One World terminals in the States which would have both international and domestic facilities.
