Spa adds rumble strips to Eau Rouge

Hit that hard enough in an F1 car and you could wreck the suspension. I know they are not high but at the speed the cars would be going there you could be looking at a case where their solution will cause another problem. Hopefully this doesn't happen though, the last thing we need to see is alterations to great track like Spa causing serious issues over a Grand Prix weekend when the sport is in a bit of a mess already.

I am in favor of it. Eau rouge is a tricky , flat out section.

It will keep the drivers on their toes and be good for spectators.

Well at least there Formula Renault 3.5, Formula 3 Euro, GP3 and GP2 races before F1 races there, plenty of changes to work out the kinks

They'll probably pussy out and remove them before the F1 gets there.

This was posted elsewhere and people said it's for a particular class of motorsport that I can't remember off the top of my head and had been done in previous years also but returned to normal afterwards.

They need it also down at La Source. Plenty of off track excursions, eh hem, kimi.

Those are going to hurt if anyone goes over them...

At the speed they hit the top of the turn at, if they hit it hard it will launch the car into the air and shatter their spine.

How about installing some good old fashioned grass. Any driver that does cut the corner slightly is going to get their tyres dirty.

And if it's wet, it'll just turn that entire section into an ice rink and accelerate the cars back onto the track. Not a great idea.

    What about high grip paint?

Not enough of a deterrent; it needs to be something that'll be as bad as a wall without being a wall.

It's a good move because it'll encourage drivers who make a mistake to slow down, and therefore get penalised all the way up the Kemmel straight, which will lead to more overtaking into Les Combes.

Could they not just penalise drivers for not obeying track limits?

A drive through would be a good enough deterrent for consistent disregard of track limits.

that seems dangerous for F1 cars. The only reason you end up out there is if you take the first half of Eau Rouge to fast, it's not an easy curb to take slightly off line, it's pretty high and there will be a certain amount of lack of control if you end up in that area. Adding bumps that could unsettle the car or shatter the suspension could put drivers into the wall. Although it's not unheard of that the car spins and goes back across the track to the other side of the road where that pit exit is.

It's probably fine for a lot of other cars but I think it would cause serious problems to F1 cars.
