Have a calf 3days old passing blood in dung,it's soft but not a scour and calf doesn't seem sick sucking cow no problem.Am thinking coccidiosis or is he too young to have contracted this,he got very stressed yesterday while being moved from one field to another, would this have anything to do with it?

Too young for cocci, think that hits after 3 weeks. Bit of blood in dung at that age is fine, just the guts starting. Should be gone in a few days.

    But then I'm no expert.

After a week it would become a worry. Until then if he's in good form and feeding then I wouldn't worry.

Calf wasn't looking great today so called the vet, don't know if any of ye ever heard of this but he said it was calf bawling syndrome. He said its a neurological condition which he comes across maybe 2 or 3 times a year and it's normally fatal. He thought the blood was only a burst blood vesel and would clear in a few days so here's hoping.

Heard of it but never heard of a diagnosis where the calf was still alive :pac:
Has he suggested anything to help like a stress-free environment?

Gave him a couple of shots, don't ask me what and kaolin for 3 days.Said to leave him in the shed with the cow

    Never heard if it.
    Hope he pulls through.

Natural youghert is good for their digestive system.

With calves we'd mix a large carton with slightly warm water, add the caolin to the mix and administer together.
