Can anyone confirm what the correct grade of gearbox oil is for a 2003 Fiat Stilo 1.2 I went to the factors earlier and they have two different types listed from two different suppliers

Anyone know the correct type for certain?

Try ringing main dealer looking for the oil from them and ask the specs of it off them

    Might be worth a phonecall

Is it a regular, Christian sort of manual gearbox? I should say a 75W-90 semi-synthetic hypoid will be just fine.

Tried that. They said they only have part numbers, not the specifications. They offered to order it in and I said I'd get back to them if I couldn't get the stuff myself.

Factor said listing for both this and 75W-80 (I think). One was GL4 and the other was GL5 - apparently these are not supposed to be mixed as it can wear out bearings or bushings inside the box

Not quite - they say GL5 synthetics attack brass bushings at temperatures of about 110C. I'm not convinced. In a car that age GL4 is fine anyway.

My spec sheet says 75W-85 GL-5 Premium Synthetic.

ZC75 synth is Fiat spec, otherwise use a fully synthetic 75w80 oil.

    Takes 1.9 litres

Source, I had a few of those boxes

Thanks a mil for that. I got the exact same advice from a Fiat Mech yesterday so that's what I'll go with. Passenger side driveshaft seal is weeping slightly so am going to swap it out when I can.
