    transmission leaked oil.
main dealer replaced gasket but noted movement from gear 1 to 2 not smooth!

They recomended drive car for around 1000
Km and the.box might reset itself.
Otherwise a new transmission. Which cost prohibitive.

    In fact its got worse!
There is a huge jolt out of 1st and a bigger one
As it goes back into 1st.. In between its fine and cruises very well!

    Anyone got ideas to solve?

I can assure you that if the garage do not have the correct diagnostic software they will not be able to reset the adaptions correctly on the gearbox.
They would need to have the Bmw main dealer diagnostics or a copy of them atleast
Most garages won't have these unless the specialise in the brand
We offer the Bmw and Mercedes and land rover services as we specialise in these and these alone

But it's sounds to me like the fluid lever might not be correct

one would suspect that as the op has said the work was done in a main dealer they would have access to all necessary diagnostic equipment to carry out any required adaptations

Any main dealer I've visited had one experience guy and hand full of young apprentices
