Weird that I was a virgin?

    Hi there,

My girlfriend and I have been together for around 6 months now and things are going great. No major arguments so far and we're fairly open about pretty much everything.

Something that has been on my mind is sexual history. I've absolutely no problem with hers, what happened, happened. I've been vague enough with mine besides the fact of 1 long term relationship previously. Thing is, I was actually a virgin till I met her. We're both mid-twenties.

Ladies, would you be bothered if your other half came out and told you months into a relationship that you were his first? I'm contemplating telling her soon but just have no idea how she'll respond so I'm a little reluctant.

    Thanks.

It's actually kind of sweet. It's beautiful.

Why bother telling her? Her past is her past, your past is yours, don't see any reason you'd bring it up personally. She probably won't give a crap but there's no need or requirement for you to raise the topic of your previous sexual history with her.

If it was me I'd tell her. Just so that your first time together won't be some fumble, maybe she'll guide you so that it is enjoyable for both of you.

Agreed. I really don't see why people bother divulging their history to new partners. Why anyone would want to know that sort of detail about their other half is beyond me.

I'm presuming you've had sex with your current girlfriend? I think you should tell her, but don't put yourself under major pressure to do so, or if you simply don't want to, don't. Personally I reckon someone should tell their partner prior to sex if they're a virgin or not, but presuming that is no longer the case I wouldn't consider it majorly important. I would simply tell her as you say yee are very open in your relationship and whilst she has been completely honest to you about her past you've been somewhat vague.

Your post makes no sense. You were in a long term relationship but you were a virgin before you met your last girlfriend or you never had sex with your last girlfriend because now you're on about telling your new girlfriend that you're her first. Are you a virgin or not ? If you are why didn't you have sex with a long term girlfriend ? If you're not, whats the point of the post ???

We were all virgins before meeting people at some point.

I agree, no need to say unless asked.

I think the op was a Virgin but has had sex with his current girlfriend, ie she is the only person he has slept with. I'm not sure why you're questioning why he didn't have sex with his ex, how is that relevant? There could be any number of reasons but the most likely is that it was a few years ago and they were still young.

Op you don't have to tell her but I don't know why you wouldn't. Personally id be thrilled to hear it.

It will more than likely be a question that will be asked at some stage, "What age were you when you lost your virginity?".

I can be a bit touchy but I would be a bit put out that you hadn't told me that OUR first time was your very first time. Purely so I could have been mindful of that and guided you/taken it slowly/made it special etc.

That's all water under the bridge now because you've slept with her but (if she's anything like me) I think I'd rather you told me instead of it just coming out in the wash.

I lost my virginity at 24 to my husband. He was 26 and had only had an (ultimately unsuccessful) one night stand shortly before meeting me.
At the time I honestly felt there was something wrong with me. As soon as we got together it didn't matter one bit!
Any half decent woman wouldn't judge and many would probably secretly find it cool to be your first - no worries about comparing to past partners!
Also all I can with all honesty tell my husband he's the best I've ever had!
