Ok, a bit long winded. Engine is a 1.8t AVJ :)

So issue started a few weeks ago.
Car wouldn't start normally. Eventually after several goes it would fire up with the EPC light on. Car would idle at choke out speed (approx 1200rpm) and never come down.
If I turned the car off and on again, EPC Light would go off and car would idle normal again. This was intermittent and car often cut out at traffic.

Scanned the car which gave me:
16706 - Engine Speed Sensor (G28): No Signal
    P0322 - 04 - no signal/communication - intermittent.

So great, looks like crank/speed sensor, picking it up in the morning.

So the last 2 days the car won't start at all in the morning. Eventually when it does there is no EPC light on and car idles normally. Also the engine management light is on.

Scanned the car again and now also have below code:
16501- Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (G62): Signal too Low
    P0117 - 001 - upper limit exceeded.

On the way home tonight I noticed the inner air temp from the heaters get cold.
Pulled the bonnet to notice the expansion tank almost empty. Strange to see as got no low level alarm. Pulled off the level sensor electrical connector and still no alarm. I'm now wondering does this run through a relay and relay is stuck close as I assume open circuit is dash warning.

Anyway, filled up with water and heaters working as normal again.
Got worried then about the coolant loss so checked coolant and oil colour, both fine.

So what's the cause... or do I have 2 dodgy sensors a closed circuit pre coolant sensor and a coolant leak I need to investigate.

Any help or experience welcome before I spend all my Paddys day money :)
