Just sick looking at Tiger's stats compared to everyone (current players) else, even given his struggles since 2009 (okay 2012 was good) his win rate is phenomenal...and those stats include his amateur starts!

    • Tiger Woods (79 wins, 318 starts): 1 in 4
    • Rory McIlroy (9 wins, 89 starts): 1 in 9.8
    • Phil Mickelson (42 wins, 512 starts): 1 in 12.2
    • Vijay Singh (34 wins, 551 starts): 1 in 16.2
    • Dustin Johnson (9 wins, 163 starts): 1 in 18.1
    • Ernie Els (19 wins, 390 starts): 1 in 20.5
    • Adam Scott (11 wins, 232 starts): 1 in 21.1
    • Zach Johnson (11 wins, 295 starts): 1 in 26.8
    • Jim Furyk (16 wins, 528 starts): 1 in 33
    • Sergio Garcia (8 wins, 281 starts): 1 in 35.1
    • Davis Love III (20 wins, 708 starts): 1 in 35.4
    • Steve Stricker (12 wins, 440 starts): 1 in 36.6

He was always very smart in picking the courses that suited him and sticking to a really light schedule. Lots of courses where he won year after year(most of them wide open no rough)

Reckon there are a lot of pros who'd look at that list & say they'd happily take a career with strickers numbers never mind the guys above

To be fair, the majority of events he picks are the biggest tournaments and not just because the course suits him.

TW is/was a one-off, no doubt about it. Its incredible that over half his wins came at 7 courses, even his results at one of those courses would constitute a good to very good career in their own right.
But, agreed, his scheduling, along with the drive & focus, was a massive part of it.

As Padraig said - enjoy the wins, as you don't win much.

Wise - when you look at that.

Sergio has only won 8 times - was going to be best player in world at one stage.

    *only*

And he's still 9th on the overall career earnings list on the PGA alone.

I'd still take Sergio's career any day ;)

For me - money is not a sign of a great career. It is a sign of doing well - but not winning for many golfers.

The above guys are active golfers.

I'm sure Sergio and golf fans, didn't think his career would be such a let down as it has been - He was literally the Rory Mcilroy of the time when he was what 19.

Rory has done more in 5 years - than Sergio has in 15 - says it all.
