One man's loss is another's gain is what I can hear a few of the Etixx riders saying. Perhaps now they have less chance of losing to Wiggins et al. Pity he's gone though.

Such a shame as probably his last chance to become the outright "Mr Paris Roubaix"...though I think he is past his best. I'm sure Terpstra and Stybar will be disappointed...

Looked. Like a soft crash but came right down on 'The Sweet Spot ' on the shoulder .
Will be a loss at Rondde and L'Enfer but Etixx QS, Sky etc are so loaded with real potential riders to try and beat Cancellara that I didn't see him making a difference.

OT, but a question I have been mulling over since watching quite a few classic on Youtube recently.

Who is seen as the better overall classics rider, Boonen or Cancellara? I know the results they have, but just a view on where each one stands on the overall standing in terms of their position within the greats of the sport.

i suppose another question would be are these the top two in any case of the current generation?

They're both up the very best classic riders, apart from Merckx IMO. Hard to seperate them and it's far too subjective to really compare them with past greats

    they/them/theirs

Such a pity as he looked like he was just gearing up nicely, didn't think it was that bad at first and thought it was the usual collar bone. Seems it's much worse than that and could be out for quite a while

As well as Merckx, De Vlaeminck, Rik Van Looy and Kelly would have better palmares in the Monuments than either Boonen or Cancellara
