Is the onus on the tester or the person presenting the car to know that it has an lsd?
In the ideal world you'd expect a tester to pick up on the obvious stuff but I would expect the onus to to be on the owner for aftermarket diffs or low volume high performance versions of everyday cars.

I'd play it safe and stick a note on the steering wheel no matter how obvious you think.. the sight of a Honda CRV being dogged on the rollers was certainly unexpected. The centre diff on them is more limited grip than limited slip but I'm still pretty certain they don't enjoy one axle being spun while the other is stationary...

Punto head gasket done, under a watchful eye at that, took 5 hours all in, and now I'm gona send it off to get nct'd!

Duke you were right, it's handy as hell to do

Fair play, good luck with the test now!

Cheers, I'll get my own one sorted first, that failed on a bushing up the top of the rear subframe, two lads were hanging from it, they really went looking

I remember my dad having to shout across the test lanes when he spotted the Defender being put onto the brake rollers. Despite the tester being told 20 minutes beforehand not to...

Would have wound up the center diff. No good.

Were you getting uneven tyre wear at the rear?

Nope! Tyres are perfect, his exact words were "there's a small bit of movement in the rear bush atop the subframe, I marked it with tippex"

The scawldiest bit of tippex you ever seen at that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,113 ✭✭✭Gavman84

I thought your ST Supergurrier would have a LSD
ST doesn't have a diff as standard but SG put one in his recently alright. So I think mine is safe on rollers...

I just know thats how I noticed them gone in my dads old laguna. The passenger side rear tyre had 3mm one side and bald on the inner edge. Never picked up in an nct though :/

I had the exact same happen to me when I got the gtv ncted, it was the tiniest bit of movement there, my mechanic was not impressed as he didn't think it was an issue lol

Haha yeah neither was mine, it took us 20 minutes to find this "tippex mark" to begin with, followed by him giving out about the nct for another 20

Yea I know they wouldn't be on normal spec cars but I was sure they would be on a ST(the 2.5 turbo model, I know they were never on the st170) They must come on the RS as standard?

About RS that 4 wheel drive model RS looks amazing not looks but the 4WD part, looks amazing sliding around bends in the videos I seen.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,113 ✭✭✭Gavman84

The RS has a diff ya the revo knuckle one. After market duffs are expensive but need them if going for big power.

9:00pm: I'll just Jetwash the muck off
9:45pm: Hmmm, those alloys still look a little dirty
10:15pm: And maybe give it a quick polish too...
11:00pm: Why the **** did I do that?

    #Justcarpeoplethings.

Had a complete manic flash of energy two hour after getting home from work and just felt like doing *something*. It was the only thing I could think of.

I ate dinner, and sat on the internet all evening.

However, most importantly, I did find the remote control for the telly

The OH has taken to driving my car whenever he can :(

My ex used to always leave the remote on the telly......wtf:confused:

All my oh's have always preferred my car ;)

T'was up in Donegal today out in Killybegs with work.

If anybody wants a nice driving road, mine road from Enniskillen to Ballyshannon is absolutely stunning. Lovely mixture of road surfaces, wide range of twisties and some lovely views of the surrounding lakes and mountains.

    I'd highly recommend it.

    On the telly?

Well my OH had a friend who died in a car accident driving an accord so he had this mad prejudice against them.

Now he loves driving it :P

Road to Letterkenny/Derry from Dublin up in I think Fermanagh is a lovely drive, it's a preserved area, it's beautiful

It might be around that same area, it's not to Ballyshannon though

Currently preparing for an interview for an American multinational tomorrow. So many potential questions, so many possible answers and not enough brain space!

    giphy.gif

"Where do you see yourself in 5 years?"

    Fcuked if I know!

It'll be all competency ****e questions

That five year question is a pain in the bollox, I got sick of it a few years ago, and honestly said in an interview, "I've no idea, if you look at my work history you'll see I've moved around a lot of roles, I'd hope to consolidate that into being a CIO"

I think they were so shocked I said I'd no idea, that they didn't listen to the rest of it, their mouths literally fell open

Oooh thats a risky one! :D

I have answered this question successfully and unsuccessfully so many times before but cannot for the life of me remember what I said. Why do American companies have to make the interview process such a pain!

Twas to be honest, but I had a couple of interviews for different roles and wasn't in the humour for corporate codology :D

I've had Eu based companies do worse, including one Irish public sector one insist on personality and intelligence tests, and background checks
