I have a cabinpack grant 50/90 outdoor oil boiler, which is leaking due to rust
at bottom, would it be possible to take out and weld to fix?
if not will have to replace, was told that these are not made anymore so could not get direct replacement new, was lookng at a 2nd hand one but this is a 50/70, would this be ok for a replacement for a 11 rad house and whats the difference in the 2 boilers? thks

I got one of those welded for a customer in a poor financial position about 5 years ago. It is still going strong. It had rusted in one small place in bottom corner. Rust was caused by a leaking pressure relief valve, so I knew that I wasn't dealing with a boiler rusting from inside out. It is always a tough call.

Seems to be rust all along the bottom edges, and flakes of rust can be seen on the bottom floor ,so would need a good bit of welding of which a friend of mine would try it for no cost, hes handy with a welder, not sure if it will be a waste of time.

Probably a waste of time but no harm in trying. I defiantly wouldn't waste money in a second hand boiler. If your going to spend, go with the new grant vortex boiler.
