Hi im hoping to soon buy a mitsubishi outlander to replace my useless santa fe.

    It will be commercial.

My question is around taxing it. As a commercial the tax is €333 but as a private vehicle its €280. How i dunno as santa fe private was €600+

Anyways if i taxed it private .... As i will be using this yolk technically on weekends for "personal use" as we all do do i have to doe it every year as i do with santa fe or do i nct it in 4 years. Theres no back seats in jeep

Was a bit surprised the tax as private was cheaper. Hence my query.

Getting tax for €280 and nct in 4 years vs doe woukd be super job if doable

It's a commercial you cvrt (doe) test it every year regardless of whether it's taxed privately or commercially. Also you cannot tax a commercial outlander for 280 euro it's impossible. Commercials are taxed commercially at 333 euro or privately based on cc not emissions even if they are post 08. So even if the outlander is brand new you would pay cc / old tax system rates. So it will still be quite high to tax I assume they are around 2.0 litre.

    2,2 litre

Theres adverts up saying tax as €333 or €280. Pity

Says nothing about using the engine size here if taxing commercial as private? It would be 151 so surely it goes by emmisions

The passenger outlander 2.2L is €280 tax. €270 if 2wd

Rav4 is same. Emmisions must be very good on them. I was surprised myself to be honest.

Also ..... Not sure if it's relevant or not. I wont be claiming any vat back (not registered). Theres no diff between it snd passanger model apart from only 2 seats. A lot of cars only have 2 seats.

It's still commercial on the logbook so it's cc based for private use regardless of whether it's 2005, 2010 or 2015 reg. Only private vehicles post 2008 can be taxed based on emissions.

If you want to get the vehicle class changed to private you will have to pay the revenue the difference in the value between the private and commercial vehicle.
To tax it for private use as it is ,it will cost about 950euro.
Whichever way you look at it the revenue wins.
