Any info on how I should proceed with this one .

Bought a phone listed as shipped from Galway on ebay, Package delivered by DHL, I noticed that it was shipped from China. I have now recieved a tax bill from dhl for 30 euro. I bought phone on the basis it was an Irish seller and would not have to pay import tax.
Have mailed seller but is listed on ebay as being uncontactable till next week.

If the listing definitely said that it would ship from galway then i would open a dispute on eBay. far too many far eastern sellers doing that at the moment.

It is more than likely a drop shipper from Galway, You buy from them, they then order from China with your details.

Could you open a dispute in paypal saything that the goods aren't as described. ie (location). Also email the seller and ask him/her to refund you the cost of the tax.

You won't get any further deliveries for starters

As mention above you should contact seller to request a refund for the €30, If seller has a good feedback rate will refund it if threaten to leave negative feedback, also open a Paypal dispute and report seller on ebay.

I think is not DHL's fault that they item was ship from abroad, they are just collecting the money from revenue (plus their fee), if you don't pay they will send more letters and call you looking for the money, they might threaten to bring you to court or sell the debt to a collection agency. Others here might know from experience what happened if they didn't pay.

Its a right pain when this happens, even after checking 'item location' uk, 6 weeks later it comes from china. eBay really need to stamp out this practice.

Just try it. Or just forget to pay them when the invoice arrives.

Next delivery you get a phone call telling you its in the depot and available when the outstanding invoices are settled.

Not legal, the contract for the delivery is with the sender not the consignee.

If you're going to go to court over that, they'll be more than willing to reciprocate I'm sure.

Check the listing again, there should be a notice letting you know about taxes. If not, complain to eBay.

If the add still states that, then take a screen shot of it as evidence.

Nope, DHL delivered the package but did not request VAT when they delivered it, i got the bill in the post from DHL almost a month later.
