Apologies if this question has been asked before. Having access to a piece of land for a residential build, what is the basic order of jobs that I need to tackle?

Have absolutely no experience in the space. Do I speak to a contract builder about clearing land, building etc. or do I speak to an architect first?

    All advice welcome. Thanks.

Have a chat with the local Council to see if planning would be allowed on the land. if they say yes then ask them what type of development would be acceptable. Have a look at local properties to see if there is one that you like in particular. Then when you get that far choose an Architect to prepare plans and maybe oversee the build. Talk to a few of them to be sure it's someone you feel you can work with.
Make sure they're up to date with recent Building regs. Don't be afraid to ask plenty of questions. That'll get you started.
The whole process can be a minefield for the some so thread carefully as it;s an expensive undertaking. Read plenty on here and you'll soon begin to get a feel for what's involved.
    Good luck with it.
