Experiences range from a seller's house being raided by the Guards while buying a car to being given a grate of (presumably stolen) Heineken. It can be hit and miss really.

What's your budget? Corolla gets my vote as a 1.4 anyway, better still an older 1.3.

budgets between 3 and 4, its not much but I'm hoping for something that can keep me going for the next 4-5 years till I'm making big bucks and I can buy that Audi A4 (2010 model) I've had my eyes on for a few years!

and also just a query I'm going from a 1.2 to a 1.4, with 4 years no claims and a full licence how much do you think the rise in insurance be? can I look at a 1.6?

Ah yeah, thought so. Corolla or Mazda 3 gets my vote anyway . Fairly reliable yokes, just drive them on and they'll give little hassle, service when due, etc, you'll have the money up for an A4 in no time.
