I'm looking at getting a first car and have seen a lot of nice 1.4 honda civics around 1998-2000..what are they like any problems?

Also how hard are they to Insure?

Maybe a mitsubishi mirage/colt for low insurance and tax might be better ? Good reliable car as well.

Much easier to get insured on the later model Civic 01-05ish (EP model?) Not to everyones taste but insurance is more friendly on them I find

It's the presence of the factory air intake system. I actually can't remember the last time I saw one on a civic :o
Even the radiator clamp is mint.

The strange thing about it for me, is the respray at 36,000. More than likely car got a tear along a door or something and was repaired. A claim on mileage that low is easily enough verified at any rate. Things like the gearstick, seatbelt mechs and steering wheel should be immaculate. New brake pads are necessary imo, as the originals would be 16 years old..

That aside, Insurance for a young man on those Honda Civics is just about the most difficult, prohibitively experience insurance scenario goine, Im sad to say. As mentioned, the model after are cheaper for some reason.
