Am wondering if a vet, gp,surgeon, dentist is registered to practice in one state in America are they registered everywhere else ie every other state in America and in any country in the world. Is it the same if they are struck off the medical board and unable to practice in one place does this apply everywhere.is a gp or surgeon registered here in Ireland registered everywhere?

No - registration in each country is done separately. Depending on the qualification it could just be a matter of sending off all documents to be verified, or there could be additional exams to be sat. It very much depends where the original qualification was obtained and where registration is being sought

If you get struck off the register it follows you internationally though. The other medical councils would know/find out.

Wasn't a doctor struck off in one of the Nordic countries involved in one of our breast cancer diagnosis scandals a few years ago?

You are required by most if not all, medical registration bodies to provide a certificate of good standing from any other country you have practiced in. It is highly unlikely although not impossible to gain registration in a country if youre coming from another where the registering body has had you struck off.
