mortgage application.. go direct to banks or a broker?

We have applied for a mortgage over the phone and were told we would qualify ...but for less than we hoped.. we want apply to several banks..but would we be better to go through a broker?

A broker will save you time, telling you who you have the best chance with and package your application so it gets processed quicker.

Or you can do it yourself. It's not rocket science, just time consuming.
